Owner: Chef James Fry’s affinity for food is a family trait, for he grew up in the food business. His great-great grandfather, William Fry, came to America from Germany in 1870 and started a meat market in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Through the generations, the business moved to the Steam Valley mountain in Trout Run, Pennsylvania. Instead of running the meat market, the Fry brothers (Howard Sr. and Raymond) started a turkey farm. In 1939, Fry Brothers Turkey Ranch Restaurant was born. Howard Fry, Jr. and his wife Lois (James’ parents) further developed the restaurant into the modern day success. Chef Fry's dream to continue his family's food legacy became a reality on February 14, 2003, when he purchased the Wren's Nest and began the process of establishing a fine-dining restaurant. It is here that Chef Fry finds his niche as he expresses himself through the artistry of food. Chef
Fry received a B.S. in Business Administration from Mansfield University in 1987
and an A.S. in Culinary Arts from Baltimore International Culinary College in
1991. He is a member of the American Culinary Federation and has participated in
a number of culinary competitions.
